Coach James

Coach James brings over a decade of competitive playing and coaching experience to the ZSA team. His journey began in high school, where he was a two-year starter and Most Improved Player, followed by a dominant collegiate intramural career at SUNY Stony Brook, winning eight consecutive coed championships. While at Stony Brook, James began his coaching path as a TA for university classes and a skills coach for the Women’s Volleyball summer clinic under the direction of the program’s Head Coach.
In NYC, James became a standout in the NY Urban leagues, winning championships in Coed Divisions 3 through 7 and reaching the Men’s Division 4 finals. He later transitioned into leadership at Herald Volleyball Club, where he served as a Skills Coach, Practice Coordinator, and Coach Liaison. After a hiatus to focus on his family, James is eager to return to the court. He is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of ZSA athletes by combining high-level technical training with a deep-rooted joy for the game.
